Scotty's Recap of 2018

Congratulations to Evan for his convincing victory this season.

Evan amassed a total of 6,479 points while cashing 16 times and collecting 4 - 1st place trophies.

When asked about his season, Evan remarked “I stayed focused all year, stuck to the game-plan, got back to basics, did the little things right.  When there was a turning point in the season I said to myself, “this is gut check time, time to execute, I’ve spent my entire life preparing for this moment, this is my destiny.”

When asked if marijuana legalization had anything to do with his performance this season, Evan stated “No Comment.”

2nd place went to F#$% Gary with 4,973 points and a league best 18 cashes. After the final game Gary was heard to say “Well F#$%^ eh.”

Mike Simp took the most 1st place trophies home this year with 5. He earned points on 13 nights and came a solid 3rd with 4,599 points.

When asked about his season Mike commented “It’s all good. I beat my wife as well as Jimmy James. I fell just short of my goal of 4,600 points, but I found a loonie on the steps one night so I guess that works.”

OG Adam “Bin Laden” Blade came 4th collecting 3,697 points in nine cashes and 3 - 1st place prizes.

We were not able to reach Adam for comment, but we all know he is working on a Back to the Future car so he can go back in time and win this darn thing.

Sak rounded out the Top 5, earning 3,625 points in a solid 10 total cashes.  He edged out Graham for 5th spot by a mere 10 points.

He considered that a moral victory in and of itself and stated “That’s for all you players who shuffled and dealt for Graham all year long…It’s a Dragon’s Den out there…”

The rest of the top ten were fan-favorites Sue “V-Power” H, Cam “Go Oilers Go”, the hardest working man in poker Steve H, and the ever mysterious, unassuming, artist, entomologist, etymologist and all-around good guy Nick B.

Nick, really, what did it mean at the end with the two on the ladder?  It’s driving me crazy.

Congrats to Andrew D who clawed his way into the top 32 with 2 min cashes late in the season.  When interviewed down the stretch Andrew stated “I really want to earn this” and he did-way to go Andrew.

Former champion Jimmy James claimed the last TOC spot with a weak 32nd place finish.

Oh my how the mighty have fallen. Oddly enough Jimmy was angrier in victory than he was in defeat. 2019 is your year Jimmy. Go get ‘em

The no justice award goes to Donna Ly for finishing out of the TOC in 33rd place and only missing it by a mere 10 points.  We all appreciate the TD work you do Donna. One of those unappreciated pricks should have given you a better chop along the way to get you in. (side note from Tammie, you are in because Ken U isn't able to play...Booyah!)

Good luck all,
Scotty P, Statistician and Roving reporter at large
